Thoughts on my marks :)

Overall my mark is not where I want it to be, but I know I'll be able to increase it to my expectations. Re-doing poor assignments and getting help on material I don't understand are two ways in aiding me to reach my goal. For me it comes down to effort and doing my assignments, quizzes and tests to the best of my abilities.

Organelles working together in protein synthesis

The first step in protein synthesis is transcription which happens in the nucleus. A strand of mRNA is made from a strand of DNA, where it travels to the cytoplasm. The second step is initiation, in which a tRNA strand matches up to a specific mRNA strand with the appropriate codon. Once this happens, an amino acid is created. Elongation occurs next, where the same process is repeated with the mRNA and tRNA. This happens in the ribosome, which can only fit two amino acids at a time. Eventually, a "stop" codon ends the process, and a peptide chain has formed. The chain leaves the ribosome, and the process is repeated again.
